SAN DIEGO - San Diego State (8-3, 2-0 Mountain West) put together one of its most complete performances of the season Saturday afternoon, rolling past Boise State (9-4, 0-2 Mountain West) at Viejas Arena behind quality execution on both ends of the floor, 83–54.

The Aztecs offense was especially sharp in the first half, going on runs of 11-0 and 15-0 in each of the first two quarters. SDSU shot 54.4 percent from the field and 44 percent from three on the night, and held the Broncos to just 33.9 percent shooting. The defense was suffocating in the second quarter. The Broncos managed just six points, allowing SDSU to build a commanding 50–24 halftime lead.

Naomi Panganiban set the tone early and never let up. The sophomore guard finished with a team-high 18 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting, knocking down two threes and consistently attacking the paint. After the game, Panganiban credited preparation and execution for the dominant showing, noting that Boise State’s ability to get hot from deep made defensive focus a priority.

“The scout was amazing, and I think all the players really executed it well,” she told Chris Ello in a post-game press conference

“One of our strengths is playing fast,” Panganiban added. “Everyone can shoot the ball, so we’re a threat from everywhere.” That balance showed up across the box score, with 11 players scoring and 29 points coming from the bench.

One of the afternoon’s highlights came midway through the third quarter when Panganiban chased down Dani Bayes for a clean block.

Kennedy Lee scored 16, to go with 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. In her 17 minutes on the floor, freshman Kendall Mosley was a perfect four for four, including three threes. Nala Williams continued to distribute the ball, with five assists and five points.

With the win, the Aztecs are now 2-0 in Mountain West play, and head into a short holiday break. They play their next game Dec 31 at 1 p.m. against Air Force (7-5, 1-1 Mountain West). Get tickets.
