SAN DIEGO – San Diego State’s women's soccer team opened Pac-12 play with a 4-1 loss to the Boise State Broncos (9-1-1). Before Thursday’s matchup, the Aztecs (6W-3L-1T) were on a 3-game winning streak, and goalkeeper Kailey Carlen put up two straight shutouts.
On the other side of the field, the Broncos were coming off a 6-game win streak and have dominated non-conference competition so far this season.
Boise State continued their dominant ways on Thursday evening. The Broncos scored a goal in the 14th minute to get out to an early 1-0 lead. Soon after, forward Victoria Miller had SDSU’s first shot on goal, but it was saved.
Defender Lily Boudet was issued her first yellow card in the 31st minute. In the 43rd minute, the Aztecs were awarded a penalty kick. On the penalty kick, Miller found the left side of the net and tied the game 1-1 just before halftime.

SDSU continued to pressure the Broncos’ defense in the second half as midfielders Kenny Moore and Alexyz Nakamoto put multiple shots on goal. However, Boise State pulled ahead 2-1 in the 69th minute and scored again in the 71st minute.
In the second half, Boudet was also given her second yellow card of the evening and had to leave the game. The Broncos scored their final goal on a penalty kick in the 79th minute. As the clock expired, Boise State secured their seventh-straight victory with a 4-1 win over the Aztecs.
Despite the loss, SDSU had more time of possession, corner kicks, and shots on goal than the Broncos. They were also the first team to score on Boise State since Aug. 30.
