🎾 Tennis coaches and fans — bring your teams to experience some of the top college tennis in the country. USD and SDSU will co-host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southwest Regional Championships, October 16-21.
Players from fifteen Division 1 schools are competing, including UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, and of course SDSU, USD, and UCSD.
The top two singles players and the doubles champion earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
USD coach Nadia Abdala (Arizona State, Eastlake HS) won the singles title in 2007 and calls this a “full-circle” moment to be able to serve as the tournament director. “It is amazing to welcome the top schools to San Diego,” said Abdala. “We get to see and witness really high-level tennis.”
Be sure to get out to watch some of the nation’s best compete, and pick your venue: you can watch for free at SDSU’s Aztec Center Complex or USD’s Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. The draw is posted here. Main draw singles and doubles begins Friday at both sites.
