SAN DIEGO - San Diego State continued its dominant run Saturday afternoon, rolling past San Jose State 94–66 at Viejas Arena to secure its 11th straight victory and remain alone atop the Mountain West standings.
The win came on the program’s second annual Pride Day, and the Aztecs made it a celebration early and often. SDSU raced out to a 25–9 first-quarter lead, with eight different players scoring in the opening frame, a clear signal of the depth that would define the afternoon. By the final horn, 12 Aztecs had found the score sheet, underscoring the team’s balance and unselfish play.
At the center of it all was Nala Williams, who delivered one of the most efficient performances of the season. The senior guard finished with 20 points, 10 assists, zero turnovers, and earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors. She directed an offense that piled up 24 assists and knocked down 14 three-pointers, a total that ranks as the second-most made threes in a game in program history.
SDSU’s defensive pressure fueled its offensive rhythm. The Aztecs opened the game with a 21–3 run, one of multiple scoring surges that kept San Jose State from gaining traction. Williams credited defensive focus for the team’s ability to stack possessions.
“Really, it’s our defense. We’re really honing on defense. We’re able to stack because offense just comes naturally to us. We’re a very talented and very skilled group of women. So it’s really when we lock it on the defense that we have those amazing runs.”

The Aztecs’ depth was on full display, with the bench contributing 39 points, while Kennedy Lee added a double-double of her own with 12 points and 12 rebounds in 18 minutes. Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson highlighted that balance as a major takeaway from the win.
“I thought our bench came in and played really, really good minutes for us… If you look at the stat sheet, some of our starters didn’t have starter-like production, and we were still able to get the win. So that’s a credit to our depth.”
Despite the lopsided score, Terry-Hutson made it clear the team’s focus remains internal. “We’re not focusing too much on the streak,” said Terry-Hutson. “We’re really, really trying to keep our attention on getting better every game… We’re still not playing 40 minutes of Aztec basketball.”
After the game, Williams reflected on the significance of Pride Day and what it meant to represent the LGBTQ community on the court.
“It feels good to represent the LGBT community. Myself, I’m a masculine presenting woman, so I like to just show out and show that you can look like me and you can still be a woman and have a good time.”
SDSU improved to 15–3 overall and 9–0 in Mountain West play, firmly establishing itself as the team to beat. The Aztecs head to Colorado State to play at altitude at 10 a.m. Pacific on Wednesday. Watch on the Mountain West Network or listen on the Aztec Radio Network.
