SAN DIEGO - The Super Girl Surf Festival returns to Oceanside for a celebration of women’s surfing. The event brings athletes, fans, and the local community together around competition, connection, and empowerment.

From the action in the water to the experiences surrounding the festival, it creates a space where women and girls can see themselves represented, supported, and encouraged to take up space in sport.

That focus on empowerment and representation became the starting point for the visual direction of this piece. Inspired by the image of a young girl wearing the festival’s signature cape, I wanted her to represent the next generation looking toward the women already making their mark in the water. Layered images of surfers rise around her through waves of turquoise, coral, and sun-washed coastal tones, connecting the athletes of today with the girls who may see new possibilities for themselves through them.
