Champions again: UC San Diego basketball wins back-to-back titles

  • The Tritons took their second consecutive Big West Title on Saturday! The team defeated Hawai’i in the championship game, 60-48 after taking down UC Davis in the semifinals.

  • Takeaway: UCSD punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament with the title! The team is seeded No. 14 and will face No. 3 TCU on Friday at 9 a.m. PDT.

UC San Diego Fencing

  • Two Triton fencers are heading to the National Collegiate Fencing Championships! Foilists, Katherine Kim and Piper Randolph, were selected to compete after going 34-10 and 28-8 in the regular season.

Wave lost home opener despite statistical dominance

San Diego State

Aztec softball wins series against Colorado State

The Aztecs hosted Colorado State over the weekend. SDSU Athletics

  • The Aztecs took down California Baptist, 8-0, before starting conference play. They went 2-1 to win the series against Colorado State.

  • San Diego State pitchers allowed just three runs in 27 innings across four games during the week, good for a 0.78 team ERA.

SDSU Basketball

  • The wait is over. The Aztecs have their postseason destination.

  • SDSU earned a No. 4 seed in the WBIT and will host UC Irvine, the Big West regular season champions, at USD’s Jenny Craig Pavilion.

  • The No. 25 team in the country opened conference play, blanking both Fresno State and San Jose State, 4-0! The victories extend SDSU’s win streak to nine.

SDSU Track & Field

  • After qualifying for the NCAA indoor championships for long and triple jump, Xiomara Young finished with a top 12 finish in long jump and 11th in the nation in the triple jump, Young’s signature event.

  • Young also took home two second team All-American awards to conclude her indoor season!

  • The Toreros hosted No. 63 LMU, taking down the team 5-2 to start their West Coast Conference play.

Mojo Pro Volleyball

Mojo fall to the Valkyries in straight sets 🏐

  • Mojo were swept by the Orlando Valkyries on Saturday, 25-22, 25-21, 25-16. With the loss, San Diego moved to 7-9 on the season while Orlando improved to 9-9.

Super Bloom Pro Ultimate

  • The Super Bloom kicked of its home opener with an emphatic 22-14 victory over the Bay Area Falcons.

  • San Diego was broken just once on offense while breaking Bay Area 11 times. They also converted 85% of their offensive points (elite efficiency).

  • Highlight plays all game: Megan Maxfield had a chest-high layout D, Abbi Shilts won multiple aerial battles, and Lexa Stambaugh scored several times from throws of 40+ yards.

Point Loma tennis extend their streak

  • The Sea Lions kept their win streak alive and extended it to six after taking down Concordia and Stanton this week.

Point Loma Basketball

  • Basketball went dancing in the NCAA DII tournament, falling in their first round against Western Washington, 74-60.
