Tennis coaches and fans — bring your teams to experience some of the top college tennis in the country. USD and SDSU will co-host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southwest Regional Championships, October 16-21.
Players from seventeen Division 1 schools will compete in the tournament, including UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, and of course SDSU, USD, and UCSD.
The top two singles players and the doubles champion earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
USD coach Nadia Abdala (Arizona State, Eastlake HS) won the singles title in 2007 and calls this a “full-circle” moment to be able to serve as the tournament director. “It is amazing to welcome the top schools to San Diego,” said Abdala. “We get to see and witness really high-level tennis.”

⏱️ Timeout Terminology
RV: You may have seen this term on the schedule of your favorite D1 teams. It means “Receiving Votes.” This abbreviation is used for Division 1 teams who are not ranked in the top 25 in the country but who are receiving votes to be included in that rarefied air.
