🗳️ The Final Say: Your Thoughts Count!

⏱️ Timeout Terminology: 🧹Reverse Sweep 🧹

The term used when a team comes back from a 2-0 deficit in a best-of-five-game series or five-set match, or when a team comes back from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series.

One week ago today, USD Volleyball defeated Loyola Marymount, 3-2. Because USD lost the first two sets and rallied to win the next three, they pulled off a rare reverse sweep. For more on how infrequent the reverse sweep is, check out this Wikipedia page.

To understand a reverse sweep, connect the term to a sweep, when one team dominates another by consecutively winning the first three (or four) sets or games in a series or match. For more on sweeps, read the 2013 article in Dear Sports Fan. Get out those brooms!
