SAN DIEGO - After a competitive first half, San Diego State’s basketball team (9-3, 3-0 MW) used a decisive third quarter run to create breathing room and went on to defeat Air Force (7-6, 1-2 MW) 62-51 in a conference matchup Wednesday in Viejas Arena. Then on Saturday in Laramie, Wyo. the Aztecs (10-3, 4-0 MW) continued their dominant play, even at (gulp) 7200 feet of elevation, corralling the Cowgirls, 72-55, and maintaining their undefeated conference record. SDSU is tied with Colorado State and UNLV for first in Mountain West standings at 4-0.

🏀 Tritons win big over Cal Poly

SAN DIEGO - UCSD’s basketball team (7-5, 2-0 Big West) leaned on their efficient shooting to pull away from Cal Poly (2-11, 0-3 Big West) in a 75-54 New Year’s Day Big West victory at LionTree Arena, improving to a 2-0 in conference play. Read Full Story

Then on Saturday, the Tritons (8-5, 3-0 Big West) defeated Hawaii, 65-54 in Honolulu. Erin Condron, Rosa Smith, Sabrina Ma, and Lev Feiman all scored in double figures.

🏀 Toreros fall to San Francisco despite late rally

SAN DIEGO - The University San Diego’s basketball team (6-10, 0-3 WCC) cut the deficit to one as a late push fell short in a 59-55 loss to the University of San Francisco (9-5, 2-1 WCC) at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Friday.  Read Full Story

The Toreros had a similar script on Sunday, closing the gap to six but getting no closer against St. Mary’s at home, losing 57-49. Eva Ruse recorded her first double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Kylie Ray stayed locked in offensively, scoring 17.

🏀 Point Loma handles Menlo in 86-69 win

ATHERTON, CALIF. – Point Loma (9-4, 5-2 PacWest) led for nearly the entire contest as the Sea Lions rolled to an 86-69 victory at Menlo College (3-8, 1-5 PacWest) on Saturday afternoon to close out their Northern California road trip.  Read Full Story
