TRENDING TODAY:
The WTA Finals 2026 draw is set. On Tuesday, the top eight women in tennis learned their groups for the season finale, which runs November 8 - 15 at Indian Wells, Calif near Palm Springs.
Group 1 has defending champion Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula and Linda Nosková. Group 2 includes Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Elina Svitolina and Karolína Muchová.
Each player faces the other three in her group. The top two from each group move on to the semifinals. It is the last big title of the year, and only the best eight get in.
It is also a treat for Southern California fans. The event moved from Saudi Arabia to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, a few hours' drive from San Diego.
Rybakina arrives as the world No. 1. She won the Australian Open and the US Open this year, beating Sabalenka in both finals. Now she wants to win this title two years in a row, something no one has done since Serena Williams.
Sabalenka has good memories of this court. She beat Rybakina in the Indian Wells final back in March.
Opening day brings a matchup between friends. Gauff and Pegula are former doubles partners, and now they meet right away in the same group. Gauff won this event in 2024.
Three players are making their WTA Finals debuts: French Open champion Mirra Andreeva, Wimbledon champion Linda Nosková, and Karolína Muchová.
What's next: Play starts Sunday, November 8, at noon PT with Rybakina vs. Nosková, followed by Gauff vs. Pegula. Sabalenka opens Monday against Muchová. The semifinals are November 14, and the final is November 15. Purchase tickets.
