Wave lose two after a franchise-record five straight wins

  • In a rematch against the Thorns, the Wave lost for the first time since its home opener, 2-0. Read more about the game here.

  • The Wave then lost at home to Bay FC on Sunday, 1-0. Read more here. The Wave fall to third place in the NWSL standings.

San Diego Super Bloom

  • The Super Bloom (4-1) remain in first place in the Southern Conference of the Western Ultimate League with a big-time victory over the Los Angeles Astra, 18-17. The ‘Bloom were up 11-6 at the half when it had to fend off an Astra (1-5) second-half 11-goal surge to secure the win.

San Diego Rebellion

  • The Rebellion fell to the Kansas City Glory 20-14 on Saturday, its only loss of the season. Despite the loss, the Rebellion remain in first place in the Women’s National Football Conference.

CSU San Marcos

  • The Cougars swept Cal State San Bernardino in softball, 4-0, over the weekend to wrap up conference play. The sweep marks the sixth for the conference play, a program record.

UC San Diego Softball

  • The Tritons finished Big West conference play, sweeping Cal State Bakersfield, 3-0.

Point Loma Nazarene

  • The Sea Lions punched a ticket to the NCAA regionals after receiving an at-large bid. PLNU, No. 31 in DII, won two tournaments this spring and are seeded tenth.

San Diego State

Aztecs come up just short

  • SDSU faced No. 18 UCLA in the opening round of the NCAA Regionals and lost, 4-3.

  • Six Aztecs were selected to the all-tournament team in singles and doubles for the Mountain West. The Aztecs took five of the six singles spots while two doubles teams rounded out the selections.

SDSU Track & Field

  • Samantha Wood claimed the second-best time in SDSU history in the 3,000m steeplechase, at 10:38.48.

SDSU Softball

  • The team lost against Fresno State in the final series of the season, 2-1.

USD Softball

  • The Toreros toppled Pacific in the second game of the series with USD’s Taylor Johnson hitting a three-run homer in the fifth. The Toreros lost the series, 2-1.
