Wave Tied One and Lost One This Week

The Wave fell just short of avenging their home-opener loss against the Houston Dash with a 2-2 draw on Wednesday. Read about the tie here.
The team was back on home turf on Sunday against the Orlando Pride, where it lost an aggressively played game, 1-0.
The Wave are third in the NWSL standings, but the Spirit and Gotham FC both have two games in hand and the points to pass them.

The Cougars are Heading to the Championship Finals!

CSUSM clinched its second trip to the NCAA DII National Championship Finals after taking down Biola University.
CSUSM took down Biola 2-1 in the series of the D2 Super Regional to advance to the Championship Finals!
The No. 4 Cougars will play May 28 at 10:30 a.m. against No. 5 West Texas A&M. Read the preview here.

The 2025 West Coast Conference Player of the Year and University of San Diego Female Athlete of the Year is one of the most decorated players in Division 1 volleyball. It is a side of Nemo most fans have never seen.

Track & Field: Five Aztecs and Five Tritons are Going Dancing!

Five athletes each from SDSU and UC San Diego are headed to the NCAA Track & Field competition.
Heptathlete Jenna Fee Feyerabend punched a ticket to the NCAA Championships starting June 10 in Eugene, Ore.
SDSU’s Jada Pierre and Charlize James (100m hurdles), Anna Mager (400m hurdles), and Isabella Nilsen (pole vault) are all heading to Fayetteville, Ark. May 28-31 for the NCAA First Round Preliminaries.
UC San Diego’s Feyi Olukanni (Shot Put), Tamara Aimufia (Triple Jump), Emma Dunmire (3000 m. Steeplechase), Allyson Abandonato (800 m), and Sylvana Northrop (5000 m) will join the four Aztecs in the prelims.

In its season opener, the Southern California Dutch Lions defeated the SoCal Reds 3-1.
Her Sports co-founder and outside forward Jourdan Ziff scored twice for the Lions.
Ziff brings professional experience to a squad that includes local D1 standouts Emma Fuller, Alexis Leath and Katie Senn from SDSU, Maquena O’Callaghan, Macy Ratermann, Hailey Vermilyea and goalkeeper Chloe Walls from USD, and Nadira Haddach and Chloe Yates, UC San Diego.

History made as an All-American!

Maddie Reeves earned All-American honors at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Reeves finished the 10,000m in eighth place, the first-ever women’s Sea Lion to become an All-American.
Reeves is also the first athlete from PLNU to race in multiple events at nationals, racing the 10,000m and 5,000m. She finished 18th in the 5000 m.
