Wave FC vs. Kansas City Current: First Wave Win in Three Years

The team secured three points for the NWSL standings after shutting out the Kansas City Current, 2-0. The Wave sit in third place Gotham City FC and Washington Spirit. Read our recap of the game here.

SDSU Soccer Wins Three Straight

SDSU (6W-2L-1D) closed out their nonconference schedule with two shutouts and three consecutive wins.
First, they triumphed in by cruising past Pepperdine, 2-0. Read the recap of the match here.
The Aztecs then faced Northern Colorado on Sunday with a crazy 5-0 victory. Five players scored: Naima Castro, KK Chowana-Bandhu, Briahna Gieger, Kendall Moore and Katie Senn.
Volleyball Closes Out Nonconference Play

The Aztecs hosted their home opener against the University of Arizona, falling in five sets. Read our recap here.

The Athlete’s Commute
Catch up on the latest of The Athlete’s Commute with Sarah Porter!
Sarah Porter is the cofounder of The Hoopers Collective, a nonprofit focused on growing and connecting the women's basketball community in San Diego by providing an inclusive space for players of all skill levels to thrive both on and off the court. On this ride, Porter heads to Encanto Rec Center for one of the Collective's women's open runs, where she'll also be playing.
Sarah's basketball journey took her from Ole Miss to UC Santa Barbara, where she set the Big West three point record, and then to the University of Utah, where she earned her master's in education and finished in the Pac-12 top four in three point percentage. Along the way she played under coaches including Vickie Carrington and Lynne Roberts, now head coach of the Sparks.
In this conversation, Sarah talks about her recruiting journey, transferring midcareer, how she built her identity as a shooter and defender, and the identity struggle that followed graduation. This is where The Hoopers Collective was born, a space that is revitalizing the basketball culture for women in San Diego.

Soccer Wins to Close Out Nonconference Play

The team hosted LMU and grabbed a 2-1 victory. The Tritons (4-2-2) finished the game with a 21-8 advantage in shots and 11-6 advantage for shots on goal.

The Tritons (4-7) were at the Rebel Challenge in Las Vegas, sweeping Southeastern Louisiana, the losing in five sets to UNLV.

Volleyball Takes Two Wins

The Toreros (5-5) faced the University of Arizona and San Diego State over the week, taking both teams down. The Toreros swept the Wildcats for their first win over a power-conference opponent, then defeated the Aztecs in four. Read our recap of the crosstown showdown here.
The team starts West Coast Conference play on Thursday against Saint Mary’s, where the Toreros hope to relive another historic season.
Soccer Loses Two
USD (3W-4L-2D) traveled this week to Riverside, facing California Baptist. The Toreros fell 1-0 before losing to Portland State, 1-0. The team begins WCC action on Sept. 26 at home at 7:30 p.m.

Sea Lions Extend Win Streak to Three

Volleyball (7-3) took a five-set win against Hawai’i Pacific on home turf and then took down Chaminade the next day in four sets to extend the win steak to three.
Soccer Wins Two
The Sea Lions (3W-2L-3D) took down Biola 4-0 before taking a 2-1 win over No. 14 Concordia! Priya Torres earned a brace in the team’s first victory this season over a ranked opponent.
